Outdated popcorn ceilings can make a room feel dated and difficult to maintain. SGC Drywall provides popcorn ceiling removal and refinishing services to create smoother, cleaner ceilings that give homes and commercial spaces a more updated appearance.

Services Include

Removing old popcorn ceiling texture involves more than scraping away the existing finish. SGC Drywall provides ceiling texture removal, surface repairs, skim coating, and refinishing to improve the appearance of outdated ceilings. Our services address surface imperfections and prepare ceilings for smooth finishes, new textures, or painting.

Benefits & Solutions

Updated Appearance

Removing outdated texture gives rooms a cleaner, more modern look.

Smooth Ceilings

Ceilings can be refinished for a smooth, consistent surface.

Repair Included

Minor ceiling imperfections can be addressed during the refinishing process.

Ready for Paint

Finished ceilings are prepared for paint or a new texture.

Our Popcorn Ceiling Removal Process

Ceiling refinishing starts with evaluating the existing popcorn texture and checking the underlying surface for damage or imperfections. After determining the appropriate removal approach, our team removes the old texture, addresses necessary repairs, and applies skim coating or a new finish as required. We then inspect the completed ceiling for an even appearance and readiness for painting.

Ceiling Assessment

We review the existing texture and determine the best removal and refinishing approach.

Removal & Refinishing

Old texture is removed and the ceiling is repaired, coated, and finished as needed.

Final Surface Review

We inspect the ceiling to ensure a clean, consistent finish.

Alex did a great job repairing/installing drywall and painting cabinets made to replace old ones torn out to save bees that had built hives behind them. He also painted cabinets I had made for the bathroom and installed hardware on both cabinets. He kept me updated, sent photos, was tidy, and was respectful of my grandparent’s almost 100 yr old farmhouse that is close to my heart. Excellent work! I will be contacting him soon for more work there! 🙂

“My husband and I used SGC Drywall for popcorn ceiling removal and then to refinish and paint the ceilings. It turned out absolutely perfect! We even have a skylight in the kitchen and we knew it was going to be difficult to tackle, but Alex and his team built a structure to get it taken care of. Our home is 2,040 sq ft and they finished within a week.”
